If you want to learn to play the bass guitar from scratch or improve your current ability and understanding, I offer bass guitar lessons for people of all ages and ability in the Truro and mid Cornwall areas*. Tuition is tailored to suit your preferred learning style and goals (play with mates, join a band, learn some specific songs, improve a specific aspect of your playing, grades etc.) and cover the style(s) of your choice.

Book and pay for a block of ten lessons and only pay for nine lessons (this doesn't have to be ten consecutive weeks on the same day & time). Lessons can be 30 minutes (£16 per lesson), 45 minutes (£21 per lesson) or 1 hour (£26 per lesson).

A bit about me
I have been playing bass guitar for over 30 years and have been teaching for over 25 years. In that time I have played with original bands, cover bands, venue house bands (including the London Hippodrome), and done session and dep work in all sorts of styles and situations. Before moving to Cornwall I used to run two of the most well established and popular jam sessions in the south-west London and Surrey area, and regularly played with a number of top local artists playing a mixture of rock, pop, soul, funk, blues, reggae and ska.

Bass players I have listened to a lot and that have influenced my playing style are James Jamerson, Francis Rocco Prestia, Donald "Duck" Dunn, Bootsy Collins, Bernard Edwards, Jaco Pastorius, Pino Palladino, John Entwistle, Sting, Flea, Stuart Zender & Chris Wolstenholme amongst many others.

Here is an example of my playing, jamming some funky blues with a "scratch" band at a Jam-Pact "Take 2" night at The Elm Tree Pub in Surbiton. The other musicians are:
